Abstract
From Fleeting Thoughts to Scripts: the
Rudiments of Authorship
Science and its communication are essential to personal and professional
development. Knowledge can be used to plan, design, implement and monitor
socio-economic development projects and programmes. Water is a basic human
need, and its security is critical to all sectors of the economy of every country.
With the global population increasing rapidly, there is the need for development
and application of innovative techniques to address water security and ensure
sustainable development.
This new UNESCO Guidebook on Scientific Writing provides insight into the art
and science of writing and publishing manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
It comprises six chapters that address elements of research and scholarship;
publication outlets and processes; typical
manuscript sections; and language and
visualization tools. Water security is used
as the field of reference.
This guidebook is intended to help authors,
especially youth and women, to contribute
more to the creation and dissemination
of knowledge and innovation to support
sustainable development, especially in the
area of water security. Researchers, policy
makers, students, educators, and other
