Over the past three decades, Uganda has made tremendous efforts towards promoting human rights with emphasis on the rights of children and women. As a signatory to various international instruments, including the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and the Beijing Platform of Action, Uganda also subscribes fully to the third MDG of promoting gender equality and empowering women. These and other commitments are entrenched through the Uganda Constitution, and domesticated in the Domestic Violence Act 2010 and 2011 Domestic Violence regulations.en_US
