Community Education for the Preservation of Medicinal Plants for Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development
Abstract
Traditional medicine (TM) occupies a special place in the management of diseases in Uganda.
Although a number of people rely on TM, the traditional knowledge (TK) related to traditional medicine is getting steadily eroded. To slow down this loss of TK it is necessary to document and conserve as much of this knowledge as possible. This project was conducted with three objectives, namely to:
1. Catalogue Medicinal Plants
2. Conduct Stakeholders Workshops and Sensitization Campaigns, and
3. Establish Demonstration Botanical Gardens
