Experience has shown that most children are born and grow up with minimum or no parental guidance. This has created gaps in their holistic growth and development process. They lack basic skills in understanding self, have no idea in developing self-concepts which are vital in growth and development. As a result we now have children who do not value themselves and feel worthless. They are confused as they struggle with the daily demands of life more especially the girl child who is more vulnerable. It is important that the girl child is empowered at the earliest possible opportunity. They should be helped to increase their appreciation of knowledge stimulation of positive mental development while creating a unique self-awareness and work to increase their self-worth. In this way they build confidence and ability to stand up against what interferes with their future goals.en_US
