This is a completion report for the Youth Dialogue organized by the Uganda National Commission for UNESCO (UNATCOM) on 25th November 2010 at the Association of the Religious of Uganda (ARU) premises, at Nsambya, Kampala. The main objective of UNATCOM was to bring together representatives of youth from different institutions of higher learning, NGOs and CBOs in Uganda, introduce to them the UNESCO's SHS Strategy on African youth and guide them on how to domesticate the Strategy, to design a workable implementation to plan Uganda Youth Strategy. Mr. Ethan Musolini facilitated the dialogue. The participants were actively involved in the discussion of UNESCO's Global and Regional objectives with a new to adopt them to Uganda's needs. The participants worked in small groups and then made presentations in a plenary. The Dialogue confirmed that the youth globally and in Uganda particularly are faced with a wide range of challenges like unemployment, HIV/ AIDS, abject poverty and high illiteracy levels, and that the youth are responsible for changing their attitudes and devising means to solve their own problems. There was therefore a critical need to build social networks and share creative ideas, work hand in hand with the Government and local communities to bring a positive change. There was a consensus among the participants that they should build and sustain values such as: ⚫ Sticking together by building social networks e.g. like face book ⚫ Elect four representatives to work hand in hand with UNATCOM to improve the wellbeing of the youth in Uganda Make personal commitments to bring about positive change among the youth either in their communities, work place or institutions of learning. Details recommendations are attached below. of the dialogue including objectives, methodologies, outcomes and recommendations are attached below.en_US
