dc.description.abstractThe Uganda National Commission for UNESCO has the mandate to ensure implementation of activities of UNESCO in the country including the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development in Uganda which commenced in 2007 after the adoption of the implementation plan. The Ministry of Education and Sports is the lead Ministry while Uganda National Commission for UNESCO is the Secretariat. The World Summit on Sustainable Development emphasized the need for Education for Sustainable Development which can be achieved through education. The ESD strategy was launched in 2008 as a country spearheaded by Uganda National Commission for UNESCO in collaboration with NEMA.en_US
