Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Basic Education in Uganda
Abstract
These guidelines for attainment of quality education at the basic level in form of modules are prepared to ensure that all children achieve their full potential with the effective participation of teachers, inspectors, parents and the community.
The modules are intended to provide guidelines to school managers, teachers, inspectors and community leaders to enable them perform better the roles they are supposed to play in providing quality education.
While each school will have unique factors and characteristics, it is deemed that the path to attaining good education is the same. The five modules in this manual target a specific audience. Though they can be read as stand alones, it is recommended that the various target audiences will benefit from reading all the modules.
The modules are:
Management
"Methods
Monitoring
Assessment
Community participation
Each module is introduced at the conceptual level, and then the reader is taken through various units introducing ideas and material on the subject. Examples are provided and at the end of each unit exercises and in some cases self-evaluation instruments are provided.
The modules are by no means exhaustive in content, but provide the essential guidance in almost step by step approach, it is hoped that they will help all those targeted to improve the education of the children under their care.
