    Abstract
    GOAL OF THE POST-PRIMARY INSTITUTION GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING PROGRAMME The overall goal of the Post-primary Institution Guidance and Counselling Program is to use the school/college environment; programs and resources to support students to acquire self-knowledge, moral values, inter-personal skills and career/vocational knowledge, necessary to enable them choose a healthy and productive life style, sustainable throughout their lifetime. INDICATORS FOR A SCHOOL/COLLEGE WHICH IS EFFECTIVELY IMPLEMENTING GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING PROGRAMME Integrated activity work-plan. Functional Guidance and Counselling team/Committee Careers visits/excursions Careers clubs/library/materials/corners Teachers trained in Guidance and Counselling Availability of Guidance and Counselling materials. Effective use of Guidance and Counselling materials. Functional Guidance and Counselling space/room. Records of students who receive Guidance and Counselling services. Functional clubs with integrated activity/themes of Guidance and Counselling. Peer Counselling taking place School/community sensitization. Community involvement in supporting Guidance and Counselling activities. Careers days/weeks conducted Use of resource persons Students' awareness of Guidance and Counselling services. Friendly learning environment. Improved students' awareness of Guidance and Counselling services. Talking Environment, with appropriate G&C messages. Reduced strikes, bullying, early pregnancies, drop out, absenteeism, etc. Reduced corporal punishment. Improved academic performance Discipline is observed Good teacher-pupil relationship/rapport Guidance and Counselling Programme, included on the General School timetable Records of Referrals for Guidance and Counselling available.
