Syllabus for the National Certificate in Marketing
Abstract
INTRODUCTION
1.0 RATIONALE
Business Education has not, hitherto, been given adequate attention in the Country's Education System as indicated by, among other things, the absence of the National Business Education Curriculum leading to the award of Diplomas that are internationally recognized. The shortage of the manpower in the Business Profession often accompanied by low economic production may be attributed to lack of a conceived National plan in Business Education.
In an effort to address this situation, the National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) has developed a comprehensive set of Business Education Curricula. It includes programmes leading to the award of the National Certificates and National Ordinary Diplomas in the Various areas listed below:
1. Accountancy,
2. Business Management,
3.
Business Studies (General),
4. Marketing,
5. 6. Purchasing and Supplies Management, and Secretarial Studies.
The Syllabi take into account the dynamics of the present and the future of the business world will hopefully open the way to business opportunities for many and open new dimensions to the Nation's economic development.
In due course, NCDC will develop other specialized programmes to cater for the interests of other people.
2.0 SYLLABI AUTHORITY
The development of National Certificates and National Ordinary Diplomas curricula in the various fields of Business Education is the exclusive responsibility of the National Curriculum Development Centre, as instituted by toe Decree of 1973. NCDC is exclusively responsible for altering the Syllabi and Regulations of these curricula.
3.0 AWARDING AUTHORITY
The examination and awarding of National Certificates and National Ordinary Diplomas in the various fields of Business Education is the Mandate of Uganda National Examinations Board as stated by the Act of Parliament of 1983.
