Syllabi and Regulations for the National Certificate and the National Ordinary Diploma in Business Management
Abstract
Introduction
Rationale
Business Education has not, hitherto, been given adequate attention in the Country's Education System as indicated by, among other things, the absence of a National Business Education Curriculum leading to the award of Diplomas that are internationally recognised. The shortage of specialised manpower in the business profession often accompanied by low economic production may be attributed to lack of a conceived National Plan in Business Education.
In an effort to address this situation, National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) has developed a comprehensive set of Business Education Curricula for the areas listed below;
1. Accountancy
2. Business Management Business Studies (General)
3.
4. Marketing
5.
Purchasing and Supplies Management and
6. Secretarial Studies
The syllabi take into account the dynamics of the present and future of the business world and will hopefully open the way to business opportunities or may as well offer new dimensions to the Nation's economic development.
In due course, NCDC will develop other Specialised Programmes to cater for the interests of other people.
Syllabi Authority
The development of National Certificates and National Ordinary Diplomas curricula for the various fields of Business Education is the exclusive responsibility of National Development Centre, as instituted by the Decree of 1973. Only NCDC is responsible for altering the Syllabi and Regulations of these curricula.
Awarding Authority
The examining and awarding of National Certificates and National Ordinary Diplomas in various fields of Business Education is the mandate of the Uganda National Examinations Board as stipulated by the Act of Parliament of 1983.
Conduct of the Programmes
The National Certificates and the National Ordinary Diplomas Programmes may be pursued either through formal education conducted by various institutions or through Distance Learning.
