    Abstract
MESSAGE TO THE USERS OF THIS MANUAL This Teachers' Manual with Assembly Messages and Activities for Primary 3 - 4 and Primary 5 - 7 is handy for use by Head Teachers, teachers, children and even parents. Under the themes: HIV/AIDS, Reproductive Health, Life Skills and culture, Gender and Children's Rights are messages that are supposed to be presented and developed in an interactive way. Learners need to be active and to participate fully in activities that are designed to promote positive habits and responsible behaviour, ultimately. It is important to note that time for the school assembly is definitely not sufficient to influence positive behavioural change. Besides, the comprehension levels for children in lower and upper primary classes are different. This is the reason participatory activities for the lower and upper classes are clearly indicated and for teachers and parents assuming an important role in facilitating the follow up activities. The participatory activities in the Manual only serve examples. Head teachers, teachers, children and parents are encouraged to come up with even more interesting stories, plays, songs, poems, drawings or whatever innovations as may help deliver the messages in a more concrete and exciting manner. It is envisaged that the School Assembly Messages will help to influence the way children behave at school, in class and at home. Their behaviour should win them honest, helpful and good friends; friends; save them from risks associated with misconduct; and help them grow into responsible, smart, clean and healthy citizens. This is a duty that must be shared equally by the school authorities, teachers, parents and children themselves. This Manual shows us the way.
