The school inspectorate has the important responsibility of setting standards, assuring quality and evaluating performance in education. But in executing these roles they must act in collaboration with other education professionals and indeed all other stakeholders in the education system. It is therefore essential that all stakeholders understand the work of school inspectors and the principles that underpin it in Uganda. This 'Framework for School Inspection' aims to do just that. For readers at school level we hope that this framework document will demystify the inspection process and help schools to: Prepare for inspection. Appreciate the value of inspection as a developmental process. Conduct internal self-evaluation and planning to complement inspection. For stakeholders and education professionals at all other levels in the system we hope that this document will promote better understanding of the work of inspectors and enhance collaboration. For inspectors themselves we expect that this document and the accompanying 'Handbook for School Inspection' will establish standardised inspection procedures nationwide that promote enhanced learner achievement.en_US
