Revised Handbook for School Inspection
Abstract
1. This Handbook for School Inspection in Uganda sets out the purpose a e and principles behind school inspection. The Handbook sets out the expectations on Inspectors when carrying out inspections, and on schools when being inspected. The Handbook also describes the approach for carrying out key aspect of school inspections such as class observations, interview and giving feedback to the school, in addition to the Handbook, des to Primary and Secondary inspection are also available and are provided Axes A and B. This Handbook and its associated Glaces redise the previous School inspection Handbook that was first published in 2006 and reprinted in 2016

This Handbook is for use by all inspectors of Ugandan schools (see section C for further detail on different kinds of inspectors Both Central and Local Government inspectors should follow the approach to inspection described in the Handbook. Inspectors should refer to the Handbook and Guides wherever necessary during their duties. An inspection should impact on the quality of the education provided for owners, and should assist the teachers, school management parents and other stakeholders in this endeavour in order to drive improvement, inspections must lead to action on the part of the school. In particular, headteachers must share their inspection reports with their Board of Governors School Management Commmee (Education Act 2008). 6. This handbook applies to all schools in Uganda, including government grant aided schools and private schools.
