dc.description.abstract | 1.0 Introduction
1. This Aide Memoire is for the 5th Annual Education and Sports Sector Performance Review (AESSPR) but the 15th in a series of Education and Sports Sector Reviews (ESSRS), since 1999. The theme of the review was "Striving to deliver quality education and sports child-to-child in Uganda".
2. The Review was comprised of the Northern/Eastern Summit and two regional assemblies (Central and Western) and this national workshop.
3. As usual, the 15th Education and Sports Sector Review (ESSR) was a joint review involving
key stakeholders of the education sector, drawn from Line Ministries, Civil Society, Parliament,
Education Funding Agencies Group (EFAG), other Development Partners, District Local
Governments, Local Authorities and private providers among others.
4. The objectives of the Review were to:-
(i) Assess progress in achieving the agreed sector level performance benchmarks and undertakings including budgetary performance for FY 2007/08;
(ii) Discuss the strategies to address specific challenges/bottlenecks identified in the last Review against sector objectives, set targets and indicators as stated in the ESSAPR and the Joint Position Paper (JPP); and
(iii) Discuss the emerging critical policy issues/concerns arising from the October 2008 Regional Assemblies on Education and Sports and agree credible mitigating measures for improving the delivery of education service. | en_US |
