    Abstract
This Manual is the result of a consultancy undertaking together with crafts' training workshops arranged among conglomeration of crafters of cultural and creative industries of eastern, western and northern Uganda with support of the Korean Funds in Trust to UNESCO. As such, the Manual proliferated collaboratively between partnerships of relevant consultancy, a team of expert trainers and regionally based representative samples of crafters thus bringing together their respective expertise, past and present experiences and ideas of attaining greater excellence in the quality and quantity of the products of Uganda's cultural and creative industries. Which are the Target Groups? It is meant to serve crafters and where need may arise, the trainers who can guide them. It also seeks the attention of newcomers who happen to be talented or gifted in the crafts abilities but have never had chance to exploit their potentialities to enter the cultural and creative industries. What is the Content of the Manual? The Manual has been configured in three main parts: Part 1 Introduction denotes the first section of the Manual in a modular arrangement. It furnishes a background presenting why the Manual has been written, the different partners that participated, and the current repute of the cultural and creative industries in Uganda. Part 2: Getting Started provides the training context by presenting roles of the stakeholders expected to use the Manual. It also gives hints on the training context for the Manual as well as matters such as the training plan, workshop delivery structure, and workshop length. Part 3: Comprises of the Modular Structure of this Training Program. It denotes commencement of the main business of the Manual with a selected set of crafts for a start. These include Basketry; Bark Cloth Production; Wood Crafts; Jewellery; Batik: Drum Making; Pottery; and Cow Horn Crafts Making. It is hoped that in future, all other crafts can systematically be accorded due attention as resources would permit. Meantime, comparable experiences can be borrowed from those crafts that are detailed in this Manual. This main body closes with a guiding chart of how the Manual can be operationalised in a seven- day schedule of 'Hands-On' learning experiences.
