In-Depth Evaluation of Life-Skills and Sexuality Education in Upper Primary Schools
Abstract
It is critical to reach young people before they are sexually active by building their skills and providing them with age-appropriate information to raise their risk perception and knowledge of HIV/AIDS, sex, sexuality, and adolescent reproductive health. It is against this need to strengthen LSSSE among upper primary-school going pupils of Uganda that the Ministry of Education and Sports commissioned this study to evaluate the life-skills and sexuality education in upper primary school settings.
The main objective of this study was to evaluate life-skills and sexuality education in upper primary school in order to: (1) establish the scope, content and effectiveness of life-skills, sexuality and sex education in schools; (ii) determine the frequency and mode of information sharing for life-skills and sexuality in schools; (iii) determine the supportiveness of school environments for the life-skills, and sexuality education programs; (iv) determine the Adolescent challenges in upper primary school settings; and (v) identify opportunities for & gathering life-skills and sexuality education in school settings.
