UNEVOC In Action 2002-2003
Abstract
In 1991, the General Conference of UNESCO decided
to launch the International Project on Technical and
Vocational Education and Training (UNEVOC). Two years
later an Implementation Unit became operational in
Berlin.
The Second International Congress on Technical and
Vocational Education held in Seoul, Republic of Korea,
in 1999, requested UNESCO to launch a long-term pro gramme on TVET from the year 2000 onwards. The Gen eral Conference of UNESCO adopted a resolution in
1999 authorising the Director-General to establish a
UNESCO International Centre for Technical and Voca tional Education and Training.
The Government of Germany generously offered to host
the UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre in Bonn. A
Host Country Agreement was signed on 12 July 2000.
The UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre became op erational in September 2000 and was inaugurated on
8 April 2002
